The Belle Époque Villas

A seaside quarter full of colour

A few kilometres from Ault, Mers-les-Bains has kept one of the finest Belle Époque seaside ensembles anywhere. Its seafront lines up hundreds of villas with brightly coloured façades, decorated with ceramic tiles, bow windows and ornate balconies.

A walk back in time

The quarter is a protected heritage site, best explored on foot, street by street. Each villa has its own name and its own decoration, a legacy of the golden age of sea bathing, a direct echo of the Belle Époque atmosphere of the Hôtel Aultia.

Good to know

  • The quarter can be visited freely, in any season.
  • Guided tours are offered by the tourist office.
  • Le Tréport and its funicular are just across the Bresle.
